Sardar Patel Renewable
Energy Research Institute (SPRERI)
was establishment in January 1979 as a result
of the initiative taken by a group of foresighted
persons led by Late Dr. H.M. Patel and Late
Shri Nanubhai Amin.

Develop
technologies and provide services to promote the
use and application of renewable energy. |

| LOCATION |
SPRERI
is situated in Vallabh Vidyanagar, a township
about 5 km from Anand, the milk capital of India.
It has been named after Sardar Patel whose ancestral
home and village is in nearby Karamsad. Well connected
by road and rail, Vallabh Vidyanagar is 75 km
from Ahmedabad and 40 km from Vadodara. Ahmedabad
and Vadodara are the two linking airports. |

| STATUS |
SPRERI
is a non-profit autonomous organization registered
as a Society under the Societies Registration
Act 21 of 1860 and also as a Public Trust under
the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.It has been approved
as a Research Association for the purpose of clause
(ii) of subsection (1) of Section 35 of the Income
Tax Act 1961 and is recognized as a Scientific
and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by
the Department of Science & Technology, Govt.
of India. It is recognized by S.P. University,
Vallabh Vidyanagar as a Centre for Ph.D. research.

& OBJECTIVES |

Research and development of
renewable energy systems and practices which
are technically and economically sound and
environment friendly and which can reduce
the dependence of industry and rural sector
on fossil fuels.

Demonstration of renewable
energy technology successfully integrated
into the user systems

Development and demonstration
of techniques to reduce energy losses and
energy intensity in processes and plants

Acting as an independent agency
for high quality testing of energy and environment
protection systems.

Acting as a store house of
knowledge and published information and
source of technical expertise/consultancy
in the field of renewable energy for the
benefit of technology users, suppliers and
policy makers

Function as a nationally and
internationally recognized institution for
imparting training and education in renewable
energy science and technology.

Bring out technical publications
and disseminate information on renewable
energy technology through media and through
popular literature, exhibitions, competitions
and quizzes for students

Periodically upgrade its infrastructure
and other facilities and update its programmes
to keep pace with the changes in renewable
energy technology and economic and social
environment.

Develop and maintain effective
arrangements to transfer RE technology for
commercialization.

Implementation of programmes
and activities which support the above stated
objectives.

Develop cooperative/joint R&D
programmes with reputed R&D organizations
in the Country and outside.
