Two
Roof Integrated Unglazed Solar Air Heater based dryers were installed
and successfully demonstrated at the following industries:

Mashika Agritech Pvt. Ltd., Village Itola, Vadodara, for drying
Oyster mushroom. The rated capacity of the dryer is about 75 kg /
day.

Gujarat
State Forest Development Corporation (GSFDC), Village Por, Vadodara
for drying Ayurvedic churnas with a capacity of 80 kg in 7-8 hours.

Solar Refrigerator

Two
top opening type 80-litre solar refrigerators of SPRERI design have been
installed at Maryward Health Centre at Puna, Bhojpur and Nazareth Seva
Kendra at Gwalpara in Bihar for storing medicines and vaccines in a
typical rural environment. The performance of the units is being closely
monitored for their reliability and ruggedness.
Four more units of top opening type 80-liter solar refrigerator
are to be installed at following agricultural universities:

Rate Digestion of Agro-Industrial Waste

Anaerobic
systems to treat the waste from industrial and community kitchens for
fuel gas production have been established in many leading industries of
the country and in the community kitchens run by NGOs. Anaerobic filter
based dairy effluents treatment systems have been installed in two
dairies.

Biomass
Gasifier

One
biomass gasifier rated at 250,000 kcl / h (thermal) has been installed
in a chicory roasting industry which was earlier burning wood to supply
heat to its four chicory roasters. the industry was facing the problem
of fly ash, smoke and uncomfortable temperature in roasting shed. The
quality of roasting was unsatisfactory because the roasting temprature
could not be controlled properly. After the installation of biomass
gasifier which can use wodd, biomass briquettes or groundnut shell as
feedstock, all these problems have been solved. the gasifier is
installed outside the roasting shed. Producer gas burners do not emit
smoke or fly ash. The roasting temperature is properly controlled. The
product (roasted chicory cubes and powder) is fetching higher price in
the market. The investment on the gasifier system is estimated to be
recovered in less then 3 years. Another 100,000 kcl/h biomass gasifier
installed in a temple to supply fuel (producer gas) to the temple's
kitchen in which food for 500 to 1000 persons is cooked. Both systems
are working well. |
